Love these guys!

What can I say, I have the BEST class ever!  My students are so excited about Social Studies and we love to throw some geography into our Reading time too!  I would have to say that Reading RTI is one of my favorites because my kiddos are absolutely enthralled!  They are so excited to come in each day and read our next chapter in "Lily's Crossing".  Today was such an awesome day, I just know the rest of the year is going to be just as lovely!

Just wanted to mention that the social was a MAJOR success!  The students had a GREAT time and we can't wait for next year!

Week NUMBER 4...out the door!

We had a wonderful week!  The back-to-social is just around the corner!  This Thursday you won't want to miss checking out our pictures!  We just had our first switch and and other than being a tad bit confusing, we made it.

What a superb second week!  We have started out this week learning how to find longitude and latitude.  On Tuesday, cartographers created maps for geographers to search for gold!  We learned that each of these professions must use absolute location to find an exact location, especially when one is searching for gold!  Today my class will be sharing their setting stories.  After switching with a partner, students created a story from their partner's setting!  I am excited to see how creative each one was!  Check out posts later next week as I plan on allowing students to post a blog!

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe it is our second week of school!  We have been so busy today learning our NEW schedule.  We had to make some minor changes, but the students did fantastic!  Tomorrow we will continue on our schedule and really get things rooooolling!  I am so excited to teach Social Studies, but I can't help but sneak in just a little math whenever I can! =)

DAY twooooo!

Finishing up day two with great success!  I can't wait to go home tonight and read all the questionnaires about my kids.  I know I am going to learn so much once I get to see their Me Bags!  Many of the students are excited about creating them; they are going to be wonderful I am sure!  Will post more tomorrow!

First Day of School!

Yesterday was our first day in the sixth grade!  I must say, I have absolutely THE BEST class in the school.  They, like me, love to talk but I know we are going to teach one another SO much this year; I can't wait!  There are a lot of familiar faces in my room, but also some new ones.  Each person is so unique and interesting.  We did our first yoga pose, and I think they might have enjoyed it...just a little!  Sydney and Dylan scored the highest on the quiz, "All About Ms. White".  They got a giant sucker for their effort!  I know today will be as wonderful as yesterday!
